A natural skincare routine can completely transform the appearance of your skin, especially if it contains efficacious natural ingredients that don't mess with your skin barrier function (ie. waterless and excluding anti-bacterial preservatives). But when it comes to waterless skincare products, it’s important to know how much to use and how often.
Understanding this will help you get the best out of your natural skincare products and tailor a skincare routine that works amazingly well for your skin.
Our faces are all different and so is our skin! Depending on your age, ethnicity, and skin type, you may have to adjust this advice a little to suit you best.
As a general rule, waterless natural skincare routines are applied in a much more sparingly way than a traditional skincare routine. This is because waterless skincare products are very concentrated and traditional skincare is made of mostly water (up to 95% in many cases). 1) Sea Quartz – Exfoliating Micro-Polish
How much to use: 10p piece size/small grape.
Frequency: Twice per week (normal/dry/mature), Once a week (combination/oily/blemish-prone).
How to use it: (1) Lightly massage onto damp skin with circular movements avoiding the delicate eye area. Apply very light pressure and massage the Sea Quartz on your face and neck area. (2) Rinse with warm water and follow with serum.
Pro Tip: Exfoliation is an especially important part of your skincare routine. It removes any surface dryness and congestion allowing all further products used to sink deep into your skin, allowing them to work to their highest ability. You will notice a dramatic difference in your skin texture and radiance when Sea Quartz is used regularly.
2) Brightening Serum / Clear Skin Serum
How much to use: 3-6 drops.
Frequency: Use morning and night on freshly cleansed skin.
How to use it: (1) Add a few drops of serum to the palm of your hand. Sprinkle in a little water and warm together in your hands. (2) Press onto your face, neck and décolleté then massage into your skin using gliding upward strokes.
Pro Tip: Massaging in the serum onto your skin will increase blood supply, oxygenating your skin and gently tone your facial muscles. This helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by supporting your natural collagen production. It is also good for lymphatic drainage, helping to clear and de-puff your skin.
3) Divine Skin – Moisture Balm
How much to use: Pea size.
Frequency: Use morning and/or night on clean skin or after serum for an extra boost of hydration and protection.
How to use it: (1) Warm a pea sized amount between fingers and press onto the face, neck and décolleté, starting with the driest parts first. Applying to damp skin, or sprinkling in a little water into your palm helps to evenly distribute the rich balm, especially if you have quite dry skin. (2) If applying Divine Skin after a serum, allow the serum to absorb for 1-2 minutes first. (3) Divine Skin makes an intensive overnight eye treatment, and can be used as a lip balm to soothe dry, cracked lips.
Pro Tip: Divine Skin is a multitasking product that encourages the growth of healthy nails by massaging a small amount into the cuticles regularly.
